A letter from Captain Schiller

Let me begin this message by saying thank you. I was born in December 1980 in Bogotá, Colombia. I was fortunate enough to be placed in your organizations care and was adopted into my family in the United States in February of 1981. I do not know much about my biological family, only the name I was given at birth, Leonardo.

I have had a blessed life in the U.S. with a family that loves me and gave me the opportunities in life to excel and achieve my goals and dreams. I am currently a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and fly the F-15C Eagle. From such a humble beginning as an orphan in Colombia to the man I am today would not be possible without your organization taking care of me in my first few weeks of life and then placing me in the care of a family that has done so much to better my life. I am eternally grateful to all of your staff past and present for the work they do.

Dan2Today I am 30 years old and have a lovely wife but what we are missing is a child of our own. Unfortunately we are unable to have children naturally but I take this as a sign that perhaps I should return to where I came from and adopt a child from Colombia and give him or her a loving home filled with the opportunities I was so fortunate to have in my life.

Thank you for your time and consideration and again thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have already done for me and my life.

Very respectfully,

Daniel Schiller (Leonardo)
